I’m happy to announce that Ashen Sky, my post-apocalyptic novella in three parts, is launching this Wednesday (November 11, 2015). Ashen Sky is $2.99 (or your local equivalent), with your country’s VAT added. Don’t get me started on international VAT and the clusterfuck that is, that’s a topic for another time.
Back to Ashen Sky! From the (purely fictional) digital book jacket:
The gray sky looms over the broken remains of our world. Life is hard for Dirk, who’s stumbling through the wasteland. Demon grass is cutting him, and acid rain is burning his skin. Out here, far from his family, Dirk makes acquaintances that lead him upon a path he didn’t know he yearned for.
Ashen Sky is a novella in three parts, set in a post-apocalyptic world where the low-ceilinged gray sky blocks out the sun and the stars.
I’m really happy with how Ashen Sky turned out, and I hope you’ll like it. Any help spreading the word, from social media to reviews, is greatly appreciated.
Ashen Sky is self-published through my imprint Pale Publishing. That doesn’t mean that the ebook didn’t get the love it deserved, in terms of a professional cover by Gábor Csigás, and editing by Salomé Jones. I’m grateful for the excellent work these two have done, as well as to all my beta readers during the process.
Self-publishing isn’t entirely new for me. The Writer’s iPad (currently unavailable) was self-published back in 2013, again with the help of professional cover artists and editors. The notion that self-publishing means poorly produced books is something that needs to go away. A lot of the self-published content out there has gotten the same treatment as traditional publishers would give it. I would never put something out there without employing professionals to ensure quality, and the same goes for almost every other serious self-publishing individual.
Here’s hoping you’ll pick up Ashen Sky on Wednesday, and tell your friends about it. Any support is appreciated.
