So it seems I’ve managed to both sell my house, and buy an apartment in Stockholm. The latter is a weight off my shoulders, because the second-hand rents are horrible here. The housing situation overall in Stockholm isn’t particularly friendly, to the point where it’s a better deal to get a substantial mortgage, since you essentially pay yourself rather than some lucky sod with an apartment, praying on you with crazy rents. To be fair, I’ve been lucky, but I know people who are paying ridiculous amounts each month, way more than they’d have to pay the bank, but they can’t get a mortgage so, yeah. Pretty shitty, all that stuff. I’m glad to be on the right side of the fence again, come December.
