I’m taking a break from my primary project to write a novella. It’s a big one for me, and I can’t wait to announce it, and tell you how you can get it. I finished the outline, and jotted down some key scenes yesterday, so it should be with my lovely editor, Salomé Jones, sometime next week. Fun times ahead.

No pressure there, Benjamin
I’ve got a full day ahead of me, and for some reason I decided I should get up early and do laundry while I’m at it. Sure, it was time, but why oh why would you do that on a day like this? Stupid brain, you need a vacation, I think. Luckily I got just the thing in the mail the other day: Benjamin Dreyer’s book Dreyer’s English, which I’ve been looking forward to for some time. I read a lot about writing when I started writing the WordPress books for Wiley. English isn’t my native language, thus I wanted to gather as much information as possible, and just like everyone else I read Strunk’s The Elements of Style. Several times, in fact. I hope Dreyer’s Englishwill be a worthy successor. No pressure there, Benjamin…

Everyone should have an office dog
Paazu left an army of dust-bunnies in my apartment, almost done shedding the winter fur. I didn’t have much time to miss him though, because Kiiko’s in the studio today. Everyone should have an office dog.

Let’s try again tomorrow
Today is not a good day. Luckily you can’t tell, can you? Let’s try again tomorrow.

Don’t rush it
I’ve been thinking a lot about newsletters recently, and where they fit in online publishing. That, among other things, is the reason I paused the planned site redesign that I teased in a previous issue of my irregular newsletter. I think I’ll take things in another direction, but it’s still just half-baked thoughts. It’s nice to not have to rush these things.

It’s nice to not have a plan
It’s a lovely day in Stockholm. I had plans, but decided to cancel them and just take it easy, which feels like the right choice, in retrospect. Taking days like these helps me think, and alleviates stress, obviously. I don’t intend to do anything particularly productive with the rest of the day either, although I have this idea that I need to jot down, and some reading to catch up on. Or not. I might just get dinner, and watch a movie. It’s nice to not have a plan, for once.

I’m optimistic
A shedding dog, a shut down service (bye BlankPage), and Emma’s birthday party. That’s about it for my day. I’ve yet to actually get to said party though, but hey, I’m optimistic of my chances.

Stumbling through the day
I’m stumbling through this day, really. The weird weather – warm sunshine, and then snowflakes are falling – isn’t helping. I’ve got Paazu this weekend, he looks like a fox with the scabies, shedding his winter fur, and covering my apartment in dust bunnies. It’s a half-life existence today, but I think I’m starting to wake up. I’ve got tickets to Agent Side Grinder tonight, and had other plans, but I don’t think I have it in me. We’ll see. I guess a bourbon and a movie wouldn’t be so bad either.

Sudden hailstorm
It’s been a productive day thus far, as of 3:51pm. Some good news in the inbox, a nice meeting, and I believe the sun is breaking through the clouds. Working on some fun stuff, can’t wait to tell you all about it. For now, know that I avoided the sudden hailstorm, and thus are alive and well. To the chagrin of some, I’m sure.

Just take a holiday
Today is a bank holiday in Sweden, one of those political ones that shouldn’t exist. To be fair, religious holidays is a bit weird to me too. Maybe you should just take a holiday when you need it? Yes, I like that one. If nothing else, it makes the fact that I’m working while everyone else is off slightly easier to swallow.

I trudge along
My day started at 6am, and I’ve got my last meeting wrapping around 9pm. I’m already tired, so here’s a photo of Paazu for you to enjoy, while I trudge along.

Supervising the relocation of boxes
I’m spending the morning making sure the movers are doing their job. It’s about all I can handle, I’m ridiculously tired, had way too little sleep last night. Luckily it’s not my stuff that’s being relocated, I’m just helping out. Just looking at it makes me exhausted, and slightly nauseous. Moving is horrible, it’s one of few things I truly loathe.

Not entirely intentional
I’ve taken some time off writing these journal entries, as you might’ve noticed (I’m fine, thanks to the ones of you who asked). It wasn’t entirely intentional, but I think I did need to remove a few daily chores for a little bit. I’m back now, as you can see.
Today is all about writing. My back is better so I intend to get a leap on, if not finish, what I set out to write over the Easter holiday. But before I do that, I’m to grab a coffee and enjoy the sunshine that Stockholm is basking in today. I suggest you do something similar for yourself, wherever you are.

Yes, those are more vinyls
My back’s still sort of locked up, but at least I’ve left the apartment today. I picked up a package that’s been teasing me for almost a week. Yes, those are more vinyls, what of it? Streaming music just isn’t the same, and if the mix is good, then I prefer a physical record. Granted, I have a pretty solid audio setup…
The re-issue of PLP’s three albums (self-titled debut not pictured, I already own that one) was a treat. 3 is an album I keep coming back to. Red Sonic Underwear hasn’t aged as well, but give the debut, and 3, a listen on your favorite streaming platform (search for “peace love and pitbulls”). The digital releases are remastered as well, with some extra songs and remixes. Looking forward to those.

A lost week
Still imprisoned due to my locked up back, but I like to think it’s getting better. You’d think that this would be a great opportunity to catch up on some writing, but alas, that’s not the case. I can’t be static for too long, and the constant pain isn’t exactly inspiring. I’m getting some things done though, but this is looking like a lost week to me. Never fun that, never fun.
