  • Sold the house, bought an apartment

So it seems I’ve managed to both sell my house, and buy an apartment in Stockholm. The latter is a weight off my shoulders, because the second-hand rents are horrible here. The housing situation overall in Stockholm isn’t particularly friendly, to the point where it’s a better deal to get a substantial mortgage, since you essentially pay yourself rather than some lucky sod with an apartment, praying on you with crazy rents. To be fair, I’ve been lucky, but I know people who are paying ridiculous amounts each month, way more than they’d have to pay the bank, but they can’t get a mortgage so, yeah. Pretty shitty, all that stuff. I’m glad to be on the right side of the fence again, come December.

  • I’m getting there

I started the day with 39 todos. That’s not exactly ideal, but it is good to know that my system works, that nothing’s forgotten. Knowing this, I can feel calm despite the amount of work ahead of me. And I’m not alone in most of this, that obviously helps too.

The todo list says 17 todos now, as I get ready to take Paazu for his afternoon walk. I’m getting there.

  • A nice Sunday

Lovely day in Stockholm, not exactly sunny but crisp and warm, somehow. I’ve been hanging out with Helena (also known as my partner in crime at Divide & Conquer) and Paazu, to see if the latter can get along with the former’s cats. Surprise, no problems there… All in all, a nice Sunday. I hope you can say the same about your Sunday.

  • Affronted Paazu

It’s a gloomy day in Stockholm. The rain’s in the air, a few drops here and there. Paazu don’t like it, he’a not the kind of dog that enjoys a walk no matter the weather. It’s like the raindrops affront him. I’ve got him for the weekend while Malin’s at a course. It’s nice, we’re going to hang out, meet some cats, and have a drink or two.

  • Alluring ideas

As a writer, much like as an entrepreneur, there’s always the next big idea. Usually that idea manifests at the end of the process to complete the current idea, of course making the shiny new idea more alluring. I’m at that place right now, with those ignored manuscripts I’ve been writing about, and a new fun thing that I want to get started on. Discipline.

I hope you’ll have a great Friday, and a lovely weekend. I’m going to try to wrap up those current ideas before I get started on the new ones. Although I might be setting my bar too high on that one.

  • Actually not a slow day

Today should be a slow day, because the Divide & Conquer team went to a karaoke bar. Shenanigans ensued, and three pitchers of Gin & Tonic were consumed, among other beverages. It was a good night, which ended reasonably early, by which I mean it wasn’t five in the morning. I’m actually surprised that we’re so productive today.

I’d share photos and videos, but there’s a strict rule against that when it comes to karaoke. Come to think of it, it might be for the best…

  • A big one ticked off

Things are falling into place. Ticked off a big one yesterday, will talk about that later, but I’m really happy about it.

Too bad today’s fucking annoying thus far. I need a break and a drink, but maybe have lunch first? It’ll pass, annoyance always does. Deep breaths and good music is key. Also, fun things planned for the evening.

    Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.

    There we go.

  • An Ignored Manuscripts Month update

Some germ or another has hit the Divide & Conquer studio, bringing down twenty-five per cent of the team. Let’s hope that’s the end of it, but it’s that time of year so I’m not holding my breath.

It’s time for an Ignored Manuscripts Month update, half-way through October. I’ve decided to move ahead with two finished drafts. Both need light editing, and one will get its ending somewhat revised. I think I got a little dark, even for that gritty little fantasy thing… There’s some interest for both of these novels, so that makes it so much easier to dig in and actually get it done. As with so much else in life, the last part is the hardest, although I don’t subscribe to the belief that the final ten per cent is ninety per cent of the work. That’s just dumb.

  • Photo sorting project

I’m looking at the amount of photos I’ve taken the past couple of months, and it’s staggering. You wouldn’t know, it’s not like I share the majority of them anywhere, which is sort of the problem. Some of these snaps are pretty good, if I may say so myself. Sorting them will be a momentous task however, but I’ve decided to set aside some time for that every Saturday. If I needed any extra boost this Monday, knowing that I don’t have to bite that particular bullet today would be one. Dreading it.

Busy week up ahead. No sense in dawdling, let’s do this!

  • It lacked soul

Still beat from Frankfurt, which proved to be a weird city to me. It was like it lacked a soul, it was just there. Granted, we stayed in the city centre, and clearly not where people actually lived, but still. Weird. I’d like to take today to rest up after the past few days – they really did make a number of me, somehow – but I’ve got a ton of apartments to look at. Fun times, the housing market in Stockholm, by which I mean it’s horrendous and should be avoided if possible. Alas…

  • Bye Frankfurt

Yesterday was intense, the Frankfurt Book Fair took its toll. We, being me and my partner in crime Helena, had fun though, with interesting meetings and experiences. At the airport now, bodyscanned and everything, ready to head back to Stockholm, and what I hope will be a calm weekend. Stay safe, party people!

  • Frankfurt Buchmesse

I’m in Frankfurt with Helena for the Book Fair, which is huge and impressive. Spent a couple of hours there today, going back for meetings and more tomorrow. Yes, it’s all very secret, isn’t it? I’m afraid that’s all you’re gonna get right now.

  • 30 minute walk every two hours

Paazu was staying with me last night. Unfortunately, that meant taking him for a 30 minute walk every two hours, because the poor thing’s a bit stressed by the city life. It’s getting there, he’s sleeping in the studio now, but I think you can guess my mental state right about now…

  • In front of the camera

I was in front of the camera today, for once. Got interviewed about my idea process for a commercial. It was a fun and relaxed conversation, with some added mood shots. You might see the commercial online in the coming weeks, if you’ve got your language set to Swedish, I guess. I hope it turned out alright. The interview was done in the Divide & Conquer studio, which requires next to no extra lighting, so the poor camera man had no use for his gear, other than the camera and microphone. It’s a tough life, lugging that stuff around.

  • Hectic week, and laundry

I’ve got a hectic week in front of me, with important meetings, a video shoot, and a trip to Frankfurt thrown into the mix. And I woke up with a cold. Even worse, I’m starting the day with doing laundry!

Hey Monday, you’re day like any other, and I’ll end you too. Bring it on!
