Had a nice day yesterday, productive for the few hours between waking up and getting everything ready for the evening’s adventure. A nice dinner – and then some – with friends and cuddly cats. Hard to complain about feeling a wee bit tired today after such a nice night.

Sunrise in Stockholm
Long day yesterday. I think I got to bed at 4AM or something. My last order of business of the day – or morning really – was to pick up stuff in the old apartment, which is now over and done with.
The photo is from just before I got home last night. Sunrise in Stockholm.

No help to be had
It’s hard to see people you care about struggle and feel bad, I think we can all agree on that. What really gets me isn’t their situation though, however horrible, but rather when there is no help to be had. Some things won’t be fixed by kind words or just being there, they need the kind of help only a professional is capable of giving. But when that doesn’t happen, or when that’s not available, what do you do then? I hate watching from the sidelines, it’s such a helpless place to be.
Be happy for all the good things in your life, even if you feel bad or are struggling in other areas. It’s the only thing anyone of us can do, really.

Cleaning out
I’m starting this week with a day full of apartment related things. The old apartment just had its last furniture picked up, courtesy of Beleco, and the cleaners should show up in a couple of hours. Fun things like that, but it should all be done by tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest.
What a weird way to spend my first day out of the 24HR office. That’s a story for another time though. Enjoy your Monday!

Thanks for your concern
It’s been a hard week. You know that when I’m even neglecting the journal, two missed days in a week really isn’t like me, is it? Thank you all for your concern, for the emails and tweets. I appreciate it.
I’m happy to say that things are finally coming along. There are some negotiations left, but the Big Bad Thing is all but over. Shaking off that stress will be good for me. The last couple of days, and the progress, made my body relax properly on Friday. Granted, booze and good company helped.
It’ll be good to speak freely again. Not just yet, but soon. And to tell you about my plans, of course.
Okay. There are things to do. Enjoy your Sunday.

Moved in
Moved in to my new apartment yesterday, in scorching heat. It was an uneventful and easy move, which is what happens if you pack boxes that are manageable, and are two focused and effective people. (Thanks Jesper!)
I’m not sure how long I’ll stay in that particular apartment, to be honest. I don’t like furnished apartments, and while it’s a very central location, I’d like to get away from the larger streets. Beggars can’t be choosers though, so we’ll see. Right now I’m just glad the move’s done.

Moving
Broken and stressed out, with too little sleep and too much alcohol. Sweating it away by moving to the new apartment today. I hope you’re doing better than this, whoever and wherever you are.

Inspirational spurt
Got hit by an inspirational spurt when I got home last night, so I went with it for a few hours. Fun and rewarding, with whisky on the side. I’m feeling the lack of sleep this morning though, but it was worth it, as it almost always is. A hell of a way to start the week, but hey, I’ll take it.

Energized and ready
Energized and ready for a day devoted to new projects. Yeah, those are unexpected words from yours truly, it’s been bleak for a long time, but this extra day out of the office has done wonders. Tomorrow will come soon enough, but for today, it’s all about the fun things.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Cities are meant to be empty
While Sweden is nurturing a collective hangover, I’ve started to pack up the apartment. I don’t have a lot of stuff, but packing for a move is still horrible to me. I hate it. It’s weird, because I kind of like packing for a trip. This is the same, essentially, but also not at all. At least it’s a good opportunity to get rid of stuff I don’t need anymore. Moving next week, to a semi-furnished apartment, which I already regret. Oh well.
Stockholm was a zombie town last night. Cities are meant to be empty.

Midsummer
Anyone who’s ever visited Sweden during this time of year knows that Midsummer is a big thing here. There are pickled herring and snaps, dancing around hedonistic symbols, flowers everywhere, and partying into the night.
I’m skipping that altogether this year. Instead, I’ll spend today walking what I hope is something of a ghost town. Stockholm empties during holidays like this, people are fleeing the city to be in house gardens or on islands in the archipelago, celebrating with friends and family. Hopefully that’s true today, but the dreary weather might’ve made people stay home.
No matter. I’m going to bring my camera and walk the streets for a bit, on my own, hopefully all alone.

Midsummer weather
The rain and low temperatures has taken over Sweden today. It’s a nice change of pace from the heat in Zürich the other day. I like it. Too bad for all the people celebrating Midsummer tomorrow, but it goes with the territory. I’ll skip the celebrations this year, and just chill on my own.

No rest for the wicked
Heading back from Zürich today. It’s been a fun trip with training in the booking system we’ve built, some video shooting, and plenty of great food and drink. Good food and drink as always, can’t wait to share the link to the restaurant we’ve been working closely with. It’s really an amazing place to eat and drink at, worth experiencing and returning to. Speaking of drinks, we’re stepping off the plane and directly into our office summer party. No rest for the wicked, as it were.

Magnificent sky
Zürich is nice, as usual. Warm weather, not too much so yesterday but today is going to be brutal. Our work is indoors though, so that should be fine. The photo below was snapped from a wine bar that we visited on our way back to the hotel after dinner. The sky was magnificent.
