  • Gary Larson’s back

Well I’ll be… This is great news, and all thanks to a clogged pen:

So a few years ago—finally fed up with my once-loyal but now reliably traitorous pen—I decided to try a digital tablet. I knew nothing about these devices but hoped it would just get me through my annual Christmas card ordeal. I got one, fired it up, and lo and behold, something totally unexpected happened: within moments, I was having fun drawing again. I was stunned at all the tools the thing offered, all the creative potential it contained. I simply had no idea how far these things had evolved. Perhaps fittingly, the first thing I drew was a caveman.

Be sure to read the whole story, and then check out the new stuff from the creator of The Far Side.

  • Apple Music, explained

Jim Dalrymple’s Apple Music woes has been sorted, sort of, although Jim’s stance on the matter is less clear now. Anyway, Joy of Tech has described how Apple Music actually works, so at least that’s good…

  • I always backup

In the words of Ray Spass, one half of the leading characters in Grant Morrison’s comic Annihilator (this from issue #4, I think):

I’m actually enjoying Annihilator thus far. It’s a bit much at time, desperately trying, but I still look forward to the next issue, so it must be good. Check it out here, and then make sure you backup before you clock out for the Holidays.

  • There'll be an Iron Man 4

This is a pretty funny way to confirm Iron Man 4, don’t you think? Robert Downey Jr yapping about negotiations is an instant classic.

Given that the movie isn’t on Marvels list of upcoming titles, I’d wager we’ll have to wait until after The Avengers 3 before this hits the theaters. Probably a good idea too, because although I’ve enjoyed all three Iron Man movies, I do think a break from things is a good idea.

  • Amazon Ruined Comixology

Amazon just set digital comics back three years. They bought Comixology, the largest digital comics reseller and service, a while back and although Amazon has a decent track record pertaining acquisitions and their ongoing existence, this is one they botched right away.

You used to be able to buy comics from within the Comixology app, via an in-app purchase. Simple and effective, because this meant you opened the app just to see if there was something interesting to read. Tap, comic bought, and start reading right away.

Now you can’t do that anymore.
