  • Head down, writing code

Head down, writing code and catching up as fast as I can. At least my shoulder is better, probably thanks to exercise. It’s weird that, when your body starts to ache – either it’ll get better with excessive strain, or it’ll break altogether.

  • Left this behind today

Left this behind today, for a couple of days in Stockholm.

The lake by the summer home

A more suitable photo to post today would be the following, due to everything that’s going on in the US at the moment. I’m not big on social media events such as this, but #blackouttuesday is rippling through all kinds of popular culture.

    #blackouttuesday
Apple Music (and Spotify) wants us to listen together

Stand together against the evildoers and the bullshit, please. The only way things can get better is if everyone’s doing their part.

  • You’re better than this

May’s almost over and on the other side of the pond, shit’s burning. It depresses me. You’re better than this.

All that aside – and I’ve truly tried to keep the problems of the world at arms length today for sanity’s sake – we’ve had a wonderful day at the summer home. I’m happy we’re staying for another night before going back to the city, even though it’ll be a full workday.

The May edition of my newsletter is out, as subscribers probably noted a couple of minutes ago. If you missed out, sign up here and it’ll arrive post-haste.

  • Forced to reschedule

My hurt shoulder continues to bother me, forcing me to sleep in one position, thus making my neck and back ache too. Gonna try to shake it off with a short walk in a little bit. I’ve been forced to reschedule some things because of this nonsense, including a design I was supposed to do.

And all of this pales to the dumpster fire that is the USA at the moment. Come on guys, get your shit together and try to be nice to each other for a change. You’re better than this.

  • 300 photos later…

No improvement on the hurt shoulder front, which I mentioned to some of you yesterday. Anything relying on me drawing things on the screen with a mouse is too painful. Writing is somewhat okay, in short bursts, so I can justa bout keep up with my development tasks.

I wrapped that anonymous photo-poetry-project I’ve been mentioning every now and then for the past two years yesterday. I’m going to write something about it, for closure, but I still haven’t decided if I’m going to claim ownership, or how it should be archived. 300 photos later…

    Somewhat related…

  • The schedule’s just too full

It’s been ten days since I wrote a journal entry. I’m struggling with routines at the moment, the schedule’s just too full, and it’s paralyzing me a bit. Things like this journal is suffering, as are various projects not putting coffee on the table.

I did manage to finish writing my monthly newsletter though. Look for the May edition in a day or so. There’s more on what’s going on in there.

I’ll leave you with that for now.

  • Full speed ahead

We’ve checked out of the hotel that’s been serving as our workplace the past two weeks. This week will be working from home, but after that we’ll move the base to the summer home, I think. Looking forward to it.

Okay. This week is nuts. Full speed ahead!

  • Seems like the perfect place to get a virus

I’ve been thinking a lot about how the quarantine affect people’s physical health. While Sweden isn’t in lockdown, I’m not visiting any gyms (seems like the perfect place to get a virus), and haven’t for months now. I can feel that, and I hate to say it but it shows. Luckily I wasn’t in terrible shape to begin with, but habits are hard to build and easy to break. What will the pandemic do to the physical health of the general populace, I wonder? I’m sure we’ll find out in a year or so. Until then, let’s all try our best to exercise on our own, shall we?

  • Slightly better prepared for the workweek

On our way back to Stockholm today, after having spent the weekend at the summer house. It’s been days of rest, with nice weather, and doing mostly small things around the house. I feel slightly better prepared for the workweek now. Hopefully we can go back again on Saturday, weather and health permitting.

  • The benefit of working from a suite

I’m juggling two projects at the moment, which isn’t ideal, but only temporary. Well, to be honest, I’m juggling a lot more than that, but both of these are pretty high profile so the pressure is on, as they say. I’m not too worried, as long as I get to stay healthy enough, it’ll be fine. I am tired though, so I’m looking forward to a quiet evening and early night in a surprisingly comfy hotel bed. Yeah, that’s the benefit of working from a suite, you get to take a break and stay there every now and then.

  • Another week, another hotel room

Another week, another hotel room (but same hotel). It appears we’re not the only ones taking advantage of the rocky travel industry at the moment. They tell me other companies are working from hotel rooms too. I’m not surprised, I’m just annoyed that I can’t get the room I want, although isn’t too bad either. At least it’s got a new view.

  • You love your gadgets

“You love your gadgets,” she said the other day.

I’ve been thinking about that, because the thing is, I don’t. It’s easy to believe I do, especially now when I’m reviewing for the Swedish edition of MacWorld again – there are a lot of gadgets at home at the moment. But no, I think of gadgets as clutter, and only some are elevated to tool status. There’s a longer piece in there somewhere, some sort of reasoning. I’ll have to think further on this.

  • Oh, and I finally got this thing

Today is the day a lot of young people (and some not so young) drink and freeze there asses off in the cold spring weather. Or at least it used to be, I reckon the current situation will limit such shenanigans, although not completely of course. I’m happy to report I have no intentions of celebrating anything at the moment, not even the advent of summer. Rest, that’s what’s on the agenda over the weekend, when the workday’s over. (Friday is a bank holiday in Sweden.)

Oh, and I finally got this thing.

    Finally!

  • Knee-deep

There’s no other way of putting it: I’m knee-deep in work, and barely holding on. Correspondence is at an all time low, I’m behind with everything. Sorry if you’re waiting to hear from me, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a little longer.

This weekend will see no projects, no writing, no nothing – just rest. Until then, hang in there you. And me, especially me…

A snap from a walk in less busy times

  • This marks the start of me complaining about the sunny weather

The hotel is treating us well, both as a workplace and temporary refuge, but I wish the room was cooler. I guess this marks the start of me complaining about the sunny weather, I’m perpetually hot, you see.

I’m working on two reviews today, alongside some design work and a newsletter for a client, so the table is littered with gadgets, and there’ll be a quick photo shoot too. I think I’ve found an addition to my setup too, we’ll see. I’ll revisit that in a post later.
