The Smashing WordPress Themes book is obviously the one solution for all your theming needs, but even if you don’t feel advanced enough as a user to build themes from the ground up yourself you can benefit. You see, in the wake of the book three new themes will be released. One is called Simple Pfolio and I thought I’d post a screenshot snapped sometime along the road.
It is a 3.0+ theme and will be available for free soon enough. For now, this is all you’ll get.

One of the great things about my upcoming book, Smashing WordPress Themes, is that it brings with it a couple of themes that I can release to the wild. I’ll sit on them until the book nears its release, which means December if everything works out, but that won’t stop me from teasing them.

Yeah, I’m kind of thrilled about that.
Yesterday marked a special day for me, or it would have if I was the sentimental kind. Which I might be sometimes, but not when it comes to these kind of things. Then again, it was obviously special enough for me to take the time to write this blog post…
Yes, I’ll get to the point.
On Sunday I delivered the fifth and sixth chapter of Smashing WordPress Themes, which means that the book is all but half-way in the hands of my editor. About bloody time, it’s been a ride where nothing really went the way it should have. I’ll get to that in another blog post mayhap, but for now it’s enough to say that, well, I thought I’d be working on my third book by now.
Enough about that for now. I’m just happy that the first half (almost) of the book is out of my hands. Sure, I’ve got author reviews and such, but there won’t be any major changes on these chapters from this point onwards. And that’s something worth celebrating I think. Which I did, with a nice single malt whisky.
Incidentally I’ve got a my book’s finished ritual involving single malt as well. By the end of September I’ll be able to indulge in that. Just seven chapters to go.
I’ve been meaning to ramp up the publishing schedule here at TDH.me, especially concerning my upcoming book, but a few days of fever put a halt to that. So I’ll just say this: Smashing WordPress Themes is 14 chapters of theme goodness.
Unless I add some, to my editor’s dismay. You’ll never know.
I was going to publish the chapter outline here, but earlier today I actually swapped places on two of them, so it might be a bit premature. With me, this is a process up until my editor says stop, which she will when I’ve delivered the last one and hit the super-duper-mega-epic deadline for getting this book on the shelves this side of New Year’s. Which I’d like.
So there, it’s an actual update from yours truly on something, here on my blog-thingy. It’s been a while. I intend to keep those while a little less apart in the future.
Jag är lite överväldigad idag, faktiskt av två skäl. Först och främst vill jag tacka alla som köpt min bok, Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog. Ett extra tack till vissa av er, som bemödat er med att kontakt mig och fråga var jag tjänar mest på era inköp. Det värmer verkligen, bubblan är magisk på det viset – vi tar hand om våra egna, bevisligen.
Till er som undrar: jag tjänar en extra liten slant om ni följer köplänkarna här på TDH.se. Helt ärligt tycker jag dock ni ska köpa boken där den är billigast, jag har trots allt royalty så spara era slantar. Omtanken räcker mer än väl, och vill ni köra något extra så skriv en recension på Amazon eller twittra ut ert inköp, det är alltid trevligt.
För det andra så pratade jag just med min förläggare, som berättade att boken säljer bra. Faktiskt så bra att den pendlar mellan, beroende på vecka, att vara den näst mest och tredje mest sålda WordPress-boken i världen!
Wow, säger jag bara. Jag finner inte ord.
Jag förstår också varför de stressar på mig om Smashing WordPress Themes, min nästa WordPress-bok.
Borde nästan firas va?

Ibland måste man fly fältet och kickstarta sig själv. Jag har gjort det flera gånger nu, med någorlunda positivt resultat överlag. Den här gången är det Smashing WordPress Themes som ska få lite TLC de kommande dagarna, långt från Stockholm.
Jag vet att jag är tyst, kommer vara det ett tag till. Har fullt upp med spännande – men pressade – uppdrag åt Odd Alice, knyter ihop Allt om iPhone #3, och deadline för min andra WordPress-bok Smashing WordPress Themes närmar sig med stormsteg.
Tur att man är någorlunda förberedd för iPadveckan på Spelbloggen då, den kickade igång idag med en liten teaser, och sedan mina tankar kring spelmaskinen iPad. Resten av veckan föräras med dagliga poster om iPad, med en spelvinkling så klart.
