  • The grab and go iPad setup

    What if you didn’t need a fully fledged computer all the time? Let’s face it, most of the time we’re just browsing the web, checking in on Facebook, send tweets and write emails anyway. Not exactly tasks that merit a powerful computer in your home.

    Does this merit a workstation at home? Do you really want one? Wouldn’t you rather do these casual things from the comfort of your living room couch, for example? Sure, you can bring a laptop but it won’t be ideal for longer periods of time, and sometimes you have a ton of things you want to read up on. (more…)

  • iPad: What I really need

    Sometimes I want to jot down thought on things to work them out. Some of these things make for excellent blog posts since others are in similar situations. I bet this is of of those, so here goes.

    I’m a big iPad fan and avid user, having had it since weeks after the wifi model launched in the US. Currently, I have an iPad 3G with 32 GB storage. It’s almost always packed, but the culprit isn’t movies, music (that’s just some 6 GB of essentials) or even photos. No, the problem is apps.

    I have lots of apps, and I keep them way too long.

    This got me thinking. What kinds of apps do I really need for my iPad? (more…)

  • It's iPad week on TDH.me

    I’ve been thinking a lot on how the iPad can change our behavior, and these last few days I’ve reached conclusions for business and productivity use. Last night it sparked a bunch of drafts (on my iPad of course), so this week will be iPad week, or something like that.

  • USA Today are happy with their iPad app

    Interesting story over at The Telegraph about USA Today’s success with their iPad app, which incidentally is free and ad-supported. I still think that’s the way to go.

  • BuddiPhone might be one to watch

    A new plugin called BuddiPhone sets out to make your BuddyPress powered WordPress community more accessible on your iOS device (being iPads and iPhones). The teaser screenshot on the landing page certainly looks clean enough, albeit a bit too close to the official Facebook iPhone app in my opinion.

    Might be one to watch. Props for the name are in order, no matter what!

  • The iPad is the perfect tool for meetings

    I enjoyed Ben Brooks’ post about how the iPad is great for meetings. In fact, the last few larger ones I’ve been to have all featured one or two people (beside myself) sporting an iPad as the primary note-taking device. I do think that Brooks forgot about one oh so important reason why I think the iPad is ideal though.

    The iPad is quiet.

    A recent workshop yet again reminded me how much keyboards on the more plastic laptops sound, truly annoying when trying to focus on what’s actually being said. I might’ve been a tad sensitive though, I had a splitting headache and ran a fever, but still! The iPad is quiet, or potentially so at least since you can disable the keyboard click sounds.

    Which, incidentally, I have no idea why you’d want anyway.

  • BlogPress still sucks

    Gave the BlogPress app a new go on my iPad yesterday. Some things in it are way better than the WordPress app, but it crashed repeatedly and even managed to publish an empty post. Delete.

  • TAT går till RIM

    Grattis till svenska TAT som blivit uppköpta av RIM (via), främst kända för Blackberry. Nu torde i alla fall gränssnittet till RIM:s iPad-utmanare PlayBook bli snygg i alla fall.

  • Mapple om iPad-lanseringen

    Som bekant så har iPad släppts i Sverige. På Mapple har vi skrivit om abonnemangen för 3G-versionen, om köandet, samt några ord om priserna och hur den finns på Apple Store nu. Bland annat, ska kanske tilläggas.

  • Surfplattan är årets julklapp (surfplattan?!)

    HUI har utsett “surfplattan” till årets julklapp läser jag på DN.se. Surfplattan alltså, vad är det egentligen? För pratar man om iPad (som gissningsvis landar nästa vecka i Sverige) eller Samsungs Galaxy Tab så är det verkligen en skämtbeteckning. (more…)

  • iOS 4.2 släpps idag, svenskt tangentbord till iPaden

    Goda nyheter för svenska iPad-ägare, för Apple släpper iOS 4.2 idag, vilket betyder svenskt tangentbord. Kommer gissningsvis vid 19-snåret i vanlig ordning.

  • Murdoch och Jobs gör iPad-tidning

    News Corp och Apple samarbetar tydligen kring en tidning enbart för tablets, först ut till iPad. 99 cent/nummer eller $4/månad är intressant i jämförelse med SvD:s galna prissättning. The Daily ska den heta, på gång.

  • Svenska Dagbladet har inte fattat ett skvatt

    Först: tummen upp för att ni gör en iPad-app, Svenska Dagbladet! Det är alltid kul när gammelmedia (ja, idag är ni det) satsar på ny teknik. Kul!

    Nuffror med mera kommer från Dagens Medias artikel. Är de fel så skyller jag på dem (vilket inte vore första gången). Bilden snodde jag där med, de får väl klaga eller något om det inte uppskattas.

  • Var passar paddan in?

    Apples iPad är ännu inte släppt i Sverige men ändå drömmer mediahusen om frälsningen i form av en läsplatta. Jag förhåller mig synnerligen tveksam till detta, men mest för att de tror att vi plötsligt ska prenumerera på en enhet som fungerar minst lika bra till traditionell läsning online. Läsandet kan mycket väl gå upp tack vare iPad, mitt har sannerligen påverkats, men inte kommer jag prenumerera på en morgontidning för det.

    Nog om det. Den här posten finns för att Joakim Jardenberg funderar kring iPaden och konstaterar att hans användande minskar. Så var passar paddan in? Det här kan jag konstatera, som haft först wifi-modellen och sedan månader tillbaka kör 3G-diton. (more…)
