I have decided to stop selling my ebook The Writer’s iPad from my own store. The ebook’s still available from other retailers though, so it’s not discontinued or anything.
The reason for this change are the new VAT rules when selling services, including digital goods, to other EU countries. They’re basically great, because they lets us sell within EU on equal terms.
Good evening. At least it’s evening here, bordering to night actually. The wind’s doing its best to shatter the windows, but it’s not even close. This is, after all, cold and damp Stockholm, capital of Sweden (the land of kings). Here wind rarely ruins civilization, although it can be a nuisance, and occasionally something more than that.
But not tonight, not here.
It’s been a while since I published something here. There are reasons for this of course. Work has kept me occupied, we’re doing really cool stuff for one of the major publishing houses in Sweden, or rather, with their Swedish properties, using WordPress and ingenuity. Wrapping up Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog, 4th Edition (a mouthful if there ever was one) has taken its toll too, it’s in author review now and hopefully it’ll launch in the first quarter next year. I’m excited about that.
Det är väldigt tyst här just nu. Jag ska prata mer om hur jag tänker kring just det längre fram, men kort kan vi väl konstatera att jag just nu skriver desto mer på engelska, på TDH.me som är min engelskspråkiga sajt, samt förlägger en hel del av skrivtiden utöver det till triviala saker som böcker och tweets.
Nog om det just nu. Här är livet just nu, i en punktlista så att alla hänger med.

I was going to talk about Ghost, the crowdfunded blogging platform, today but as I read my draft I realized that my point was muddled and didn’t get across the way I wanted. The piece went in the bin and I’ll give it another go in a day or so.
Let me instead answer some questions from the modern mailbag, which would mean anything from my email inbox to Twitter, App.net or Facebook. There might be questions directed at me over at Google+ as well, but those will continue to go unanswered.
Amazon are generally great when it comes to promoting relevant content to its customers. Their newsletters often result in me spending a few dollars on books. But this time I think they went a bit too far, by listing The Writer’s iPad as a top pick for me in their most recent mailing:
No Amazon, I won’t be buying my own book from you, but thanks anyway. It’s not that far off actually, if I hadn’t written it myself I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
Here’s hoping that same recommendation went out to a bunch of other people as well. I could do with a sales bump on Amazon.
What a week.
Around this time last week I unleashed The Writer’s iPad upon the world. People seem to like it, although I haven’t been able to follow up on that as much as I would’ve liked. At the very least, I am very happy with getting some nice exposure from the likes of Minimal Mac and Tools & Toys, as well as several nice tweets. There’s been some Swedish pieces about the ebook too, but since most of you won’t understand much of those I’ll let them be for the time being.
All and all, I’m really happy with The Writer’s iPad thus far. The project is far from laid to rest though, as I have yet to get the ebook up on iBooks Store. The planned method of getting it there turned out to make the ePub look like crap, and that’s a shame since The Writer’s iPad got the professional layout treatment from my friend and colleague Alexander at Odd Alice. I won’t put a sub-par version up on iBooks Store when there is a perfectly good ePub available in the package that you get when buying The Writer’s iPad from yours truly. This is a priority come next week – The Writer’s iPad will hit the iBooks Store, I promise you that. For now, if you can’t wait, just buy the package from me (for $3,99), the ePub looks and works great in iBooks.
Vi tar det viktigaste först. Min ebok The Writer’s iPad finns ute nu. Den kostar $3,99 (runt 27 kr) om du köper den från mig, men moms (25% för eböcker) tillkommer, så det blir 34 kr ungefär. The Writer’s iPad är alltså en ebok om att använda iPad för skrivande. För det går utmärkt, det har jag bevisat gång på gång genom att skriva allt från artiklar och bloggposter, till delar (och hela, faktiskt) böcker med paddan som främsta verktyg. Allt du behöver är rätt kombination av appar och tillbehör.
